New Acquisitions

There is a stirring...

I’m building up my armies after a long pause. The mortar team is going to be joined by another later this month, meanwhile the CTS infantry above have been boiled, adjusted, cooled and washed ready for priming. I may run a few posts on the topic.

  1. Nice mortar team Steve. I don't know the manufacturer; are they new?

  2. Great to see you building up the armies. The motor team intrigued me too.

  3. Hello - Interesting mortar team - new company to me - are they rugged or delicate figures and mortar?

  4. Glad to see the old style CTS figures! I need to order another set of those - the MG is more than worth it (far more durable than my 1/35 option).

  5. The mortar team is from a range called Ultimate Soldier. They were made during the last big WW2 anniversary (and I am still kicking myself for not buying some cheap ones that were in the local Walmart). Do you know how rare 1:32/54mm heavy weapons teams are? I still curse Airfix for not producing a German Infantry Support Group like they did for their British Infantry. I have seen some lovely conversions, but I don’t have the talent or time for that - so I am shelling out the dose for these.

John Y - The MG’s were the ONLY reason I bought these CTS models. I was preparing them last night and I was struck by the soft bendy plastic (almost rubbery). Weird. Never mind, on with the Modge Podge as I watched Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif in ‘Night of the Generals’. I have never seen the film so that’s one thing off my bucket list. This of course is nothing to do with CTS MG groups, which are also rare as fairies in this scale. Expeditionary Force do some very nice ones but their WW2 models are 60mm and they look way to big compared to 54’s.

    1. I'm not familiar with "Night of the Generals". Added to my 'to watch' list!

I've used a couple of the old style CTS Germans to fill out ranks for my Germans. The sniper for one works well enough. Some of the rifle figures remind me of the Marx Soviet poses (I've never seen Marx Germans to my knowledge) with their lankiness so I included a few bases of them too. The panzerfaust sadly looks like it's being wielded by a child in comparison to other 1/32 figures!

  6. Welcome back!
When I make enough progress on the NW Frontier, I plan to head to WWII Skirmish, with either the Russian Front or Guadalcanal, can't decide.

Will look forward to your next battle report! Alex
